Who’s to say that just like we feel happy,
Maybe the earth moves its clouds to bring in some sunshine
Who’s to say that just like we feel peace,
Maybe the earth sends its winds to breeze through our hair
Who’s to say that just like we cry,
Maybe the earth cries and we get rain
Who’s to say that just like we blow up,
Maybe the earth erupts and we get thunder
Who’s to say that just like we feel grateful,
Maybe the earth says, “My child, now here’s a rainbow”
Who’s to say that just like we feel sad,
Maybe the earth shows us its gray and cloudy skies
Who’s to say the earth isn’t showing us,
Exactly what we are showing it?
Who’s to say the earth doesn’t hope for a change of seasons in us,
As we often do in reverse
Who’s to say the earth isn’t kind,
Since we are still given a place to stay
Who’s to say the earth isn’t working hard to stay healthy, happy, and giving?
Maybe we can show each other and our Mother Earth,
More respect and tender loving care
Who’s to say?
